Ladies and Gents
As promised, here are a few ideas from A/Commr. Gary Forbes
regarding gaining some substance and experience with the BC
Policing Study.
If you have an idea or interest, please correspond with Gary
Forbes direct.
Again, this is totally voluntary. It may be seen as a proactive
move on your part by joining in as part of the solution to our
Urban Policing challenges.
PS...If I have missed somebody, please pass this email on to
them.
All the best

Note from Assistant Commissioner Gary Forbes
Reference
to our discussions and study session.
We are in the process of examining a number of initiatives that
have been surfaced by our people. For your group it would be
interesting to see if there are any areas they feel we should
address. If there is, we could look at those as well.
For us we are currently looking at:
1. A strategic Communication Plan.... A better way of providing
information in a timely fashion.
2. Municipal Traffic - Can they work together and how...what
about street racing?
3. Training.....how many trainers.....how do we improve the
process....understanding the cost associated with training.
4. A strategic Staffing initiative for the LMD. With all the
pressures of the Federal and specialized sections....how do we
ensure the front line is properly resourced.
5. Financial accountability....each municipality and E Div, HQ
Ottawa, all have people responsible for this....is there a
seamless approach?
6. Area Commanders....how would they function.
If any OCDP Candidate is interested in getting involved, I am
available to discuss and of these or other topics if someone
wants to jump in to help. Certainly, the experience they would
obtain from a corporate perspective would to great.
take care gary
